Even Baptists Can Have Fun (EBCHF)

We want to confront the common misperception that Baptists are, for the most part, an amazingly cheerless bunch. So, we’ve set up something called "Even Baptists Can Have Fun". Whether you have any connection with this church or not, you’re invited to take part. For starters, here’s the schedule for free popcorn and refreshments and free movies which we are properly VCLI – licensed to show to the public in our sanctuary. All are shown at 6:30 PM these Saturdays:
June 26 "Field of Dreams" (PG) "Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella hears a voice and sees a vision of a baseball field. He believes that if he builds a baseball diamond in his cornfield, shoeless Joe Jackson from the infamous 1919 Chicago "Black" Sox will return. By daring to follow his dream, Ray and his field offer a second chance to all sorts of people." Kevin Costner
July 31 "The Blind Side" (PG-13) "Michael Oher is a homeless African-American teenager who is from a broken home. Mike is taken in by the Tougys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher’s presence in the Tougy’s lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, Mike faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome – as both a football player and a student. Mike works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle." Sandra Bullock
August 28 "Ice Age" (PG) "Twenty thousand years ago, the Earth was being overrun by glaciers, and creatures everywhere were fleeing the onslaught of the new Ice Age. In this time of peril, we meet the weirdest herd of any Age: a fast talking but dim sloth named Sid; a moody woolly mammoth named Manny, a devilish saber-toothed tiger named Diego; and an acorn-crazy saber-toothed squirrel known as Scrat. This quartet of misfits unexpectedly, and reluctantly, comes together in a quest to return a human infant to his father. Braving boiling lava pits, treacherous ice caves, freezing temperatures and a secret, evil plot, these "sub-zeros" become the world’s first heroes!"
"EBCHF" is also planning an excursion to cheer on the St. Paul Saints in their epic battle against the Pensacola Pelicans. We’ll be leaving about 5:30 from the church at 3rd and Vine for the 7:05 pm start. The cost is only $10, Tuesday, June 29, and gets you a general admission ticket, a hot dog, a small soda, and a Saints baseball cap. We have a great time – join us!
We also have a softball team, which currently has a .500 record. Call Paul Ashwood at 386-6811 for more information.
Other upcoming events – picnic, boating; bike ride to Afton; mission project with Ronald McDonald House.
