| Beginning with supporting Adoniram and Ann Judson in their calling to bring Christ to Burma in 1812, missions has been one of the central callings of American Baptists. First Baptist of Hudson currently tithes 10% of its general fund to mission work. |
| To that end, our Missions Committee provides guidance in how the funds are dispersed. In 2010, 40% goes towards various national and international ministries like American Baptist Unite Missions Basics, specific missionaries like Steve and Nancy James in Haiti, Judith Sutterlin in China, and Ruth Mooney in Costa Rica, local ministries like Camp Tamarack (Waupaca, WI), Operation Help in Hudson, and the food shelves in Hudson and Minneapolis. |
The remaining 60% in undesignated funds is available for special requests. The church has provided funds for short term missions trips, and outreach locally, nationally, and internationally, including:
- The Salvation Army (local/state)
- Grace Place (transitional housing, Somerset, WI)
- Campus Crusade for Christ (University of Minnesota)
- Project Focal Point/Milwaukee Christian Center (inner city programs)
- Transport for Christ (ministry to truckers)
- Minnesota Teen Challenge (addiction recovery programs)
- Intervarsity Christian Fellowship (University of Wisconsin-River Falls)
- Sharing and Caring Hands (low income assistance, Twin Cities)
- American Refugee Committee (National Council of Churches)
- The Karen Bible Project (Christian tribal refugees from Burma)
